She earned her MDiv at Princeton Theological Seminary and a BA in Religion at Duke University. In 2015, Petra transitioned from parish work to healthcare chaplaincy, where she discovered a love for working with oncology patients. Petra has worked as a Chaplain Resident with Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Cancer Institute. As a John Templeton Fellow, she will complete her MPH in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior at the University of South Carolina and continue working PRN with Carolinas HealthCare System. Her professional and research interests include exploring outpatient chaplaincy and using rituals for processing difficult life events. In her free time, Petra enjoys whitewater kayaking, playing ultimate Frisbee, hiking, and playing board games.
