TC Fellow to teach VA research literacy course

Shelley Varner-Perez, TC Fellow and VA chaplain in Portland, Oregon will soon begin teaching fellow VA chaplains research literacy. In partnership with chaplaincy researcher J. Irene Harris, Varner-Perez will be teaching a research literacy course as part of Basic Chaplain Training for all new chaplain hires in VA. The course will include a macro overview of research theory as well as segments on applying research to practice. The team will teach the course on a quarterly basis as part of an updated educational curriculum for new chaplains.

In other news, Varner-Perez has accepted an invitation to serve on the Joint Research Council. Transforming Chaplaincy is grateful for Shelly’s service and takes pride in its graduates’ commitment to the field. Thank you, Shelly!
