This project is expanding the spiritual care generalist workshop developed by the Boston Children’s Hospital’s Institute for Professionalism & Ethical Practice (IPEP) for geriatrics practitioners.
The Interprofessional Spiritual Care team is developing the materials required to train “spiritual generalists” for geriatric caregivers and will train 75 caregivers in an interprofessional setting. These caregivers will then be poised to deliver care to the more than 3,000 seniors receiving long-term care at HSL. An article is forthcoming about the training and its effects; Cadge, Paasche-Orlow, and Thiel are collaborating with another colleague skilled in distance learning to determine how to deliver these online to geriatric clinicians outside of the greater Boston area. This project is supported by a grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation.
