Humankind releases new Spiritual Care Podcast
The Humankind Public Radio program, distributed by NPR, has released a special new series, The Spiritual Care Podcast. To date, five half-hour episodes and a bonus segment are available, with many more in production. It is produced by award-wining Humankind host David Freudberg with funding from the Henry Luce Foundation. The podcast tells stories of caregivers, including chaplains and kindred professionals. The series strives to be inclusive, not exclusive. Preliminary episodes feature profiles of chaplains from different faiths serving: a college campus in Nashville; members of the Armed Forces in Afghanistan; hospice patients in Massachusetts; homeless people in Seattle; and social workers in different regions. This is a useful resource for practicing chaplains, students considering chaplaincy and others. The aim is to explain the practice of spiritual care and the fascinating human stories caregivers have to share.
